Ngwokwong Village is a nature, structured peaceful, vibrant and dynamic community of less than 1000 inhabitants. It is located in the North West Region of Cameroon with facilities such as Acha-Hospital, Tad Market and schools.
In Ngwokwong, stories are told through the rhythm of drums, the wisdom of elders, and the sacred bond between people and the land is unmatched. Though Ngwokwong is one of the small yet historically rich communities of the Meta people, who collectively care for the needs and well being of each other and their Village. Its origins trace back centuries, long before colonial boundaries divided the African continent. Before European – German contact, Ngwokwong and its neighboring villages formed part of the traditional Meta kingdom, a self-governing society led by the Fon (chief) and family heads. Life is built around farming and trade, communal decision-making, and deep respect for nature. Land is sacred; it is shared and protected for future generations.
Ngwokwong is known for its strong cultural traditions, including storytelling, Festivals, drumming, dance, and rites of passage. Two legendary rocks often called the male and female rocks, stand as symbols of fertility, healing, and balance. We believe that the wind carries ancestral voices through these stones, reminding each generation of their roots and purpose.
Agriculture and trade remains the heartbeat of Ngwokwong. Families cultivate plantains, maize, beans, and yams, using age-old methods that preserve the soil and water sources. The village’s natural springs have long provided life to its people and inspired local traditions of healing and purification.
Ngwokwong Today –Though small and often unseen on the map, Ngwokwong carries the spirit of Africa’s resilience. It represents the strength of community – scholars, authors, entrepreneurs, the beauty of simplicity, and the wisdom of an ancient way of life., as well as her Diaspora spread worldwide
